We want to achieve three things through the organisation of the Osaka Festival Fringe.

1) Create a platform to support artists

the Osaka Festival Fringe is an 'entertainment showcase' where producers from around the world come to discover new talent. It brings together works from both professionals and amateurs, domestic and international, making it a gateway for aspiring artists to achieve their dreams.

Being recognized by producers can provide the opportunity to perform on a global stage, leading to bigger opportunities to showcase one’s talents and perform on larger platforms.

By creating opportunities that connect artists with companies and event organizers, we aim to nurture the next generation of cultural producers and artists. This platform will help launch artists from Japan onto the global stage.

2) Raising cultural literacy in Japan, including among the children who will lead the next generation

What we want to bring to you through this city-wide arts festival is ‘encounters with high quality art and performance’.
We want to bring you an exciting performing arts experience where you can't take your eyes off the stage, where your emotions are moved and that will spark your imagination and keep your thoughts spinning.

We provide opportunities for children, the leaders of the next generation, to experience and appreciate high-quality cultural arts. Through these experiences, we nurture their creativity, imagination, and critical thinking skills.

We hope this initiative will inspire more people to develop an interest in the performing arts, ultimately leading to a society where performing arts become a more integrated part of daily life and evolve into a thriving industry in Japan. 
This event is the initial move toward making that vision a reality.

3) We aim to transform Osaka's unique culture into a new tourism resource.

Osaka is a city of entertainment where traditional festivals and classic arts coexist with a unique culture, exemplified by its renowned comedy scene. It is a place where various attractions blend together, creating a distinctive and vibrant entertainment atmosphere.

In the ‘Osaka Urban Attraction Development Strategy 2025’, formulated in 2021 as a common strategy for Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City, one of the '10 ideal urban images for the initiatives' is 'Culture-oriented metropolis which facilitates Osaka culture’.

By hosting one of Japan's largest international cultural and arts festival centered around the performing arts, we aim to enhance the city's attractiveness, develop it into a valuable tourism resource, and create new opportunities in the tourism industry.

Support us in making the event a reality

Organizing a large-scale event involving many people and the community incurs significant costs. This year, to showcase performances by many top artists and to share the excitement and enjoyment of the performing arts with many audience, we have decided to raise funds through crowdfunding.

Although we are seeking sponsorship from companies, many are still working as volunteers and the current financial situation makes it difficult to organise events on the scale envisaged.

We would like to ask for your warm support to make the Osaka Festival Fringe as an ‘international arts festival that enlivens art and performance in Japan’.
