About us
JOICFP (Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning) is a Japan-based NGO working to ensure that all women and girls—wherever they live—can live healthy, safe, and empowered lives.
Since 1968, we have been promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) through partnerships with local and global communities.
Why we need your support
In many parts of the world, women,young people, people with disabilities, and sexual minorities still face deep-rooted discrimination and limited access to SRHR, denying them control over their own bodies.
Talking about sex is often taboo. Reliable information is hard to find.
As a result, too many people continue to face preventable challenges such as:
- Unintended pregnancies
- Unsafe abortions
- High maternal deaths due to lack of care
- Widespread sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS
- Sexual and gender-based violence
Limited power to make decisions about their own bodies and lives
Supporting SRHR saves LIVES — literally.
When everyone has the power to make informed, voluntary choices about their bodies, health and futures — including if, and when to have children — entire communities become healthier, safer, and more equal.
What we do
JOICFP is dedicated to advancing SRHR and promoting gender equality, especially among women and girls by expanding access to SRHR information and care, through strengthening community-operated health systems. We work with local stakeholders, including women, youth, and healthcare providers, to identify their needs and co-create impactful solutions. This collaborative approach has led to meaningful improvements in access to healthcare, SRHR education, and local income generating activities to sustain viable community health systems. In addition, JOICFP engages in advocacy at both national and global levels to achieve “SRHR for ALL.”

Every person deserves the right to make choices about their own body and future.
Yet millions around the world are still denied the information, care, and support they need to exercise their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
For over 55 years, JOICFP has worked alongside communities to empower local voices to ensure “SRHR for ALL.”
But we cannot do it alone.
