Around one in nine children in Japan is in relatively poor situation (financially distressed). Half of all single-mother families are poor.

We support about 2,700 needy families who are raising children across Japan, 60% of whom earn less than 2 million yen(USD13k）a year and 85% less than 3 million yen (USD19k).

Half of families spend less than 10,000 yen (USD65) a month on food per person.

In a quarter of families, even the children can't get 3 meals a day.

- Twice a week, only natto for dinner.
- We have repetitive days of tofu, bean sprouts, natto, banana, and rice.
- My child has come to believe that adults can live without eating.

With wages not increasing and prices rising, electricity and food prices are going up, and their lives are grossly damaged.

88% of parents are worried that they will not be able to provide their children with a nutritious and balanced diet during the summer holidays, while 60% of parents say they will not be able to provide their children with enough food.

Those families are forced to endure in their daily lives.

Many families do not turn on the air-conditioner in such a hot summer, because the electricity bill has increased.

“Opportunities for learning and hands-on activities” and "Relationships with friends" are limited.

- My daughter knows we have no money. When I buy something for her, she says, "I'm sorry to make you spend money.” Every time I think, “I'm the one who should be sorry.”
- I resisted turning on the air conditioner because the electricity bill would go up, then my daughter got heat stroke and was put on an IV.

They don't get any nutrition because school meals are not available during the summer holidays. This is why some children lose weight during the summer holiday.

(2) Providing a place for learning support and belonging completely free of charge

We operate completely free learning-support classes for approximately 2,000 elementary to high school students who are deprived of learning opportunities in needy families.
