NPO MadreBonita will participate in the Tokyo Marathon 2026 Charity as a donation recipient organization.
About Our Work
While welcoming a new life is a joyful experience, in Japan, the postpartum period is also associated with three major social crises: postpartum depression, child abuse, and marital discord.
To navigate the major transition of childbirth as a couple, it is essential to have knowledge about this period, to communicate in ways that support physical and emotional well-being, and to access appropriate care and support during the postpartum period.
However, in reality, many families approach childbirth with the mindset that "birth is the goal," often without adequate preparation for what comes afterward. As a result, unexpected physical and emotional challenges, strained relationships, and feelings of isolation due to difficulty going out can lead anyone to face these three major postpartum crises.
Since 1998, when the concept of postpartum care was virtually nonexistent in Japan, NPO MadreBonita has been developing and providing health care programs specifically focused on the postpartum period. Our goal is to help families thrive—physically, emotionally, and socially—as they begin life with a new child.
Our key activities include:
・Operating postpartum care classes that offer our original recovery program
・Raising awareness about the realities and needs of the postpartum period
・Conducting research and surveys on postpartum experiences
・Training new professionals to deliver postpartum care

Use of Donations (planned)
Donations from the Tokyo Marathon 2026 Charity will be used to support the Postpartum Care Baton program, which provides free postpartum care services to mothers of multiples, single parents, and mothers of children with disabilities and other special needs, as well as to organize various educational programs to raise awareness about the importance of postpartum care. These initiatives aim to create a society where families welcoming a child can lead healthy and fulfilling lives, both physically and mentally.
