Myanmar Major Earthquake Emergency Relief (Peace Winds)

Following the M7.7 earthquake that occurred in Myanmar on March 28, 2025, we have commenced emergency assistance. It has been reported that more than 1,000 people have died so far, but with roads and communications cut off, the full extent of the damage remains unclear. Peace Winds ”Aerial Search and Medical Team ‘ARROWS’” is assessing the situation in the affected areas, maintaining close communication, and implementing relief operations.

On March 28, 2025, around 3:20 p.m. local time, a large-scale earthquake struck near Mandalay in central Myanmar.

According to current reports, 1,002 people have been killed and 2,376 injured, but roads and communications are cut off in many places and the full extent of the damage is still unknown.

In neighboring Thailand’s capital Bangkok, a high-rise building under construction collapsed, and rescue operations are underway. Approximately 100 people are believed to be trapped at the site, and as of the morning of the 29th, searches continue for those still missing.

In response, Peace Winds’ disaster emergency relief project “Aerial Search and Medical Team ‘ARROWS’” has been gathering information since immediately after the earthquake and has decided on providing emergency assistance.

Peace Winds has previously provided emergency assistance to victims of Cyclone Nargis in 2008, and also carried out emergency relief activities in Myanmar following the large-scale flooding across the country in 2015. For this earthquake, Peace Winds will continue to survey the damage and needs on the ground while maintaining close contact with local responders, and will roll out emergency relief efforts accordingly.

We earnestly request your warm support for the affected areas.
