Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer (C2C4C)
CancerNet Japan (CNJ), a certified non-profit organization, provides all kinds of evidence-based information from a patient advocacy standpoint to help patients with cancer undergo voluntary treatment. Bristol Myers Squibb is supporting CancerNet Japan through the company's charity bike ride initiative, C2C4C, which was started with a desire “to provide more support for people facing cancer." We look forward to your warm support for the CNJ activities and Bristol Myers Squibb’s commitment to C2C4C.
What Is Bristol Myers Squibb’s C2C4C?
C2C4C is the collective name for a series of cycling events focused on fundraising to advance cancer research. C2C4C features four bike rides including Country 2 Country 4 Cancer in Europe, Cost 2 Coast 4 Cancer in the United States, Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer in Japan and Latin America.
The tradition of C2C4C began in 2014, when our employees in the U.S. involved in cancer research felt strongly that “we should provide more support to people facing cancer.” They then started a series of cycling events, during which they ride bikes thinking about those who have lost their lives to cancer and those who are currently fighting the disease. After two successful years in the U.S., C2C4C was launched in Europe in 2016, Japan in 2021, and Latin America in 2022.
For the 2024 C2C4C event in Japan, approximately 60 riders from Bristol Myers Squibb in five teams will ride the routes below from October 1 to October 15.
Please leave a comment when you donate. Your support will be a great encouragement to the teams.

CNJ provides all kinds of evidence-based information to help patients access treatment voluntarily. We communicate such information by producing and distributing to patients with cancer the booklet series “Want You to Know More” and hosting the Japan Cancer Forum, the Blood Cancer Forum, and other seminars. We also provide courses for patients and their families, including one called “Over Cancer Together―Let’s Survive the Disease Together” and a Breast Cancer Survivor Coordinator Training Course, to help realize a society in which people suffering from cancer can live with a sense of fulfillment.
With your support, we can provide more patients, their families, supporters, and healthcare professionals up-to-date, evidence-based information. And by providing them with appropriate information we can help many patients and their families live a life worth living.
Here are some of our projects.
Producing and Distributing the ‘Educational’ Booklets Series for Cancer Patients
We produce the Want You to Know More (Let’s learn more about cancer) series of booklets, which covers essential and comprehensive information including the overview of cancer, surgical treatments, chemotherapy, and approaches for managing adverse events. These are distributed to designated cancer treatment centers across Japan. We also produce the booklets for caregivers and on relevant theme about cancer (such as cachexia and immunotherapy), with 38 types currently available.
These are continually updated and revised to ensure they are useful to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals
Launching the “Getting over Cancer Together Campaign
The Getting Over Cancer Together campaign aims to shed a light on cancer-related issues in Japan by inviting patients, their families, bereaved family, caregivers, and friends to share their experiences and listen to others’ stories, with the purpose of realizing a community and society where all people, including those with cancer, can learn about the disease, face it head on, and not be defeated by it. The campaign is open to all, regardless of gender, age, or cancer type.
In this program, we hold the Cancer Survivor Speaking Seminar in Tokyo, where cancer survivors learn the skills and knowledge needed to share their voices and engage in activities that inspire others and drive social changes, not only through lectures but also through practical experiences. To encourage the spread of such activities nationwide, we recruit participants from across the country and provide travel assistance for the speaking seminars. Many participants have already taken steps in initiating activities that inspire and drive change.
Hosting the Japan Cancer Forum
One of the largest cancer forums in Japan, this event is for cancer patients and their families, as well as all those impacted by cancer. In recent years, there have been remarkable advances in cancer care, with progress in clinical research, the development of treatment guidelines for various diseases, and the personalization of cancer treatment, creating an environment where patients can receive more options.
However, the dissemination of treatment guidelines and standardization of cancer care remain challenging. Therefore, some patients and their families are yet exposed to unreliable and misleading information, including therapies which are not supported by scientific evidence.
With this perspective in mind, the forum aims to be a place where patients, their families, and the general public can come together to learn about cancer, find courage and hope through access to up-to-date information on the ever-evolving landscape of various cancer types and address current issues in cancer care. The forum is also designed to help the public, including those with cancer, learn about the disease and strive to conquer it, in line with the National Basic Plan to Promote Cancer Control Programs. Each year, the event hosts keynote lectures and Q&A sessions inviting leading healthcare professionals and researchers in their respective fields, with a wide range of attendees including patients and their families, medical professionals, and others. The forum is open to anybody who are interested in cancer.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of the event, which will be held in person for the first time in five years. The forum will take place from Saturday, August 24 to Sunday, August 25 in the Research Building of the National Cancer Center Tsukiji Campus, with the theme “Reunion: The Pursuit of Knowledge and Human Connection.”
Organizing the Blood Cancer Forum
This is one of the largest blood cancer forums in Japan for patients and their families. The Blood Cancer Forum has been held since 2019, providing up-to-date healthcare information with the cooperation of leading healthcare professionals in blood cancer treatment in Japan. It aims to create a space where not only patients and their families but the general public, including donors and volunteers, as well as medical professionals can come together and learn about the disease.
CancerChannel – A Free Online Video Resource
CancerChannel offers free videos on the latest information about treatment for cancers such as colorectal, lung, stomach, breast, and prostate cancers, as well as rare cancers, side effects, and various cancer-related topics (e.g., patient experiences, dietary and exercise practice, sexuality related concerns, employment, mental health care) for all generations, including children, adolescent and young adults (AYA), and the elderly.
All videos provide accurate, reliable medical information based on scientific evidence, explained in an easy-to-understand manner for patients and their families. Videos can be searched by cancer type or keyword according to the needs of patients and families, and can be viewed anytime, anywhere, from mobile phones to computers. We will continue to enhance our offering of cancer-related videos to further aid patients and their families.
Men's BC – A Support Group for Men with Breast Cancer
Since January 2018, we have been hosting a casual gathering for men with breast cancer. The incidence of male breast cancer is very low, less than one percent of female breast cancer, and typically occurs in men who are five to ten years older than affected women. Due to the small number of male breast cancer patients, we often hear that they lack opportunities to discuss their concerns with other men who have the same condition. To address this need, we regularly hold Men's BC meetings in a hybrid format, allowing men with breast cancer to connect and interact with each other, even from far away.
