NML employee donation starts

In response to the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis, NML is working with the JPF to help as many people as possible and started employee fund-raising initiative. United Nations estimates 18 million people in Ukraine will be affected in the coming months, of which 6.7 million have been internally displaced*1. It is also points out that the number of refugees to neighboring countries, which has already exceeded 3 million, may increase to more than 4 million*2.

Ukraine's current situation and support needs

JPF decided on the initial investigation by member NGOs on February 25, and started to confirm support needs in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

Especially in Ukraine, problems such as the suspension of water and electricity supply due to the destruction of infrastructure and the shortage of medicines due to the stagnation of distribution have been confirmed while the treatment of injured people is required. In addition, support needs such as food, daily necessities, temporary housing, water hygiene, medical care, and mental care for internally displaced persons are required.

Most of the refugees are women, children and the elderly, therefore, special attention should be paid to "protection from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH)".

JPF member NGOs will expand their support in Ukraine and neighboring countries such as Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Moldova and Romania, where further influx of refugees is a concern.

We will provide support that gives top priority to the human rights and protection of people in distress by flexibly responding to the situation through fully coordinating and coordinating with related parties.
